About
RECESS Education has been partnering with community organizations since 2016 to empower children, youth, and families. We focus on ending education disparities that adversely impact students of color.
We create and support culturally responsive programs to close the achievement gap. Every year, We strive to live the values of our mission and advocate for our community by offering services that facilitate personal growth and enrichment to community members of all ages.
In the upcoming years of 2023-2024, we have set our sights on a number of inspiring goals!
Our Goals
-
The installation of 5 Sharing Libraries in our community
-
The facilitation of free Saturday morning tutoring and enrichment at Bradenton Village
-
The organization and coordination of our Annual Juneteenth Reading Conference and Community Festival
-
The continuation of important conversations around race in education
Additionally, we aim to provide educational resources and support to other nonprofit organizations, offer empowering internship opportunities to local youth through RECESS Education, and uplift cohorts of Black Women writers through workshops, consultation, and publishing.
We are excited to work towards these objectives, each of which will help us build a brighter future for our community!
